This helps assists with the smooth running of our Saturday morning competitions as well as behind-the-scenes administrative support and Centre management. The Centre should not be used as a child minding facility and it is requested that parents assist at least one week a month during the competition season at events. Some parents, given their availability, are able to assist more frequently.

Parental Assistance

Parent assistance takes many forms including track event timing, event marshalling, field event measuring, raking of pits, event recording, weekly results ranking, age group management and assistance.

Little A’s is a family affair!

You don’t have to be an expert or a sports person in any discipline

All we need are willing helpers. We’ll show you what to do – It’s really quite easy!

Requirements are as follows:-

– Age Managers require at least 3 helpers for measuring, recording and raking.

– Straight track requires up to 2 timekeepers for the timing gates, 2 recorders.

– Circular track needs at least 3 timekeepers (with 2 on 1st place), 2 recorders per table.

– Canteen and BBQ are on a rostered system.

– Set Up and Pack Up is on a rostered system.

All these tasks assist both your children and others to enjoy their time at the Centre and to ensure that our Saturday morning competitions run as effectively and efficiently as possible. If we don’t have your support your athletes will suffer by not competing, waiting in the sun far too long and generally becoming dissatisfied and discouraged with Little A’s.

To ensure that each Saturday morning’s program operates effectively, we ask that you participate when called upon, as per the timetable below. It is imperative that the morning set up commences at 7:00am so that the day’s competition can commence at 8:00am.

Track and Field Assistants (Parent Helpers)

The long standing policy of the club is that apart from athletes the only people that are permitted to be on the main oval or top field area during competition are Track Officials (Starters and Timekeepers), Age Managers, Track Assistants (Timekeepers and Place Judges), Field Assistants and Recorders.

The only exception to this rule is that parentSs of Tiny Tots or Under 6’s can stay with their child if absolutely necessary.
All Officials, Managers and Assistants must sign the duty roster prior to competition. Officials and Managers should wear the Club T-Shirt. Track Assistants and Field Assistants must wear the appropriate identity tag during competition and return it to the sign-on table at the end of competition. Age Managers are limited to 3 Field Assistants per group.

Anyone found not complying with the above guidelines will be asked to sign on in an official capacity or leave the competition area.
These guidelines are necessary for insurance purposes as well as to ensure the safety of all children, parent volunteers and officials during competition.
