Many thanks to all the athletes and parents who registered and completed in todays first run. Additional time was taken by walking the 1K, 2K and 3K courses, so thank you for being patient. Our plan remains to commence 10 a.m. sharp with 1K event. We will run additional distances as requested by athletes as the schools cross country doesn't match Little Athletics Association i.e. 4K etc. Attached are the results for the first week
To add even more confussion! Maps of the course are attached. See below text for further explanation.
After feedback from parents last year we modified the 1K course so the athletes were more visible during aspects of the event. From the start line (Soccer field goal line), the course now navigate 3 sides of the soccer field before heading down past the tree with the X, we then loop around 3 sides of the fenced bushland regeneration area in an anti clockwise direction, once up the top we follow the path past the BBQ, then down the path (past the cricket nets) heading back onto the soccer field to loop back to the finish line. The distance is ever so slightly over 1K. We incorporate this 1K section into the 3K event.
The 2K and 3K courses remain similar to last year. However, with some modifications to bring more rises (small hills) into the course. Each event starts similar to the 1K, however once at the tree with the X, runners head up the hill to the traffic cone (on cut down tree), once at the traffic cone they turn left and head past the BBQ, to the path and run past the cricket pitch, follow the path across the bridge, cutting the left hand corner and heading towards skateboard park on the path and crossing the next bridge, once over the bridge they turn right and follow the left hand path up a small rise crossing over the grassed area to the next bridge, once over the bridge the athletes turn an immediate right and follow the tree line down past the creek bed joining the bottom path and heading towards the playground and passing the Scout Hut following the treeline to the path, once on the top path they follow this along to the BBQ area, then onto the path past the cricket nets and head onto the soccer oval to the far corner post then running down the sideline. 2K's will finish after turning left, 3K will turn right and now incorporate the 1K course. The 3K and 4K finish incorporates a clockwise loop of the fenced bushland regeneration area before heading past the X tree, up the hill to the finish line across the soccer field. The 3K looks confussing on the map but after a week or so we should be clear on the course.
