Coaching - Parent Information
Coaching
Your Centre endeavours to provide coaching sessions for athletes focusing on technical competencies on at least two afternoons during the week. Again, the coaches are parents who have undertaken training courses under the auspices of the Australian Track & Field Coaches Association. Should you like to join our coaching ranks, please see our coaching co-ordinator Steve Denning as soon as possible.
With the commencement of the 2010-11 all coaches and those with an interest in coaching are requested to register with Steve to ensure that we have appropriate coverage across all events during the season.
Coaching usually starts immediately after the September school holidays. There is no cost involved, but parents are requested to attend the coaching sessions, and to help out if needed. Most coaching activities are conducted at A.H Whaling Reserve and athletes wishing to attend MUST book in with the respective coaches at Saturday morning competition, or contact the coaches prior to attending a session. Please see the notice board or our web site for contact details of the coaches.
During this season we plan to conduct some midweek event specific event clinics with coaching staff provided by LAANSW. Watch out for details of these sessions.
Coaching Courses for Parents
The Australian Track and Field Coaches Association and the Little Athletics Association of NSW regularly hold Orientation to coaching courses. These courses cover basic instruction on all events. Hills District Little Athletics will reimburse any parent who undertakes an Orientation to Coaching course and is willing to help out during our coaching sessions.
