Region Wash-up

Well done to all the athletes that represented Hills District Little A’s and North West Met Zone at the Region 6 Carnival.  I managed to chat to many athletes over the carnival and there were a number of Personal Best performances achieved, so be proud of making Region and performing your best.

Congratulations to everyone that made a Final or Top 8, and there was plenty of excitement with athletes that have never qualified for State Championships, and to the Under 9’s that were successful as this will be your first State Championships.   Hills Little A’s Under 8’s were well represented in most finals,  U8’s don’t progress to State Championships – special congratulations to Gold: Charlotte Burrell 400 and 700 Pack, Joses Idehen 200m, Saxon Orsini 700m Pack,  Silver: Saxon Orsini 200m, and Bronze:  Claudia Coombes 70m and 100m, Saxon Orsini 100m, Jake Harris Shot Put and Jordan Archer Discus.

We had 2 relays progress to State Championships – Junior Boys Relay 57.79, and Senior Girls Relay 51.20.

Hills District Little A’s had 55 athletes qualify for State Championships, there are about another 20 or so in the balance that finished with fast times or within the Top 8.   It will take a few more weeks for LANSW to crunch the results from all Regions and identify the next 8 qualifiers from across the State.  The full list of qualifiers for State Championships should be known around 28 February.

The result for the Region 6 Carnival have been posted to the LANSW website.

Parents & Helpers – Disappointingly at Region I heard our club over the PA a dozen or so times waiting for our helpers to arrive.   Rest assured as a club with 60+ athletes going to State we will be expected to help out, if your child is competing you will have a duty to perform (you need to wear closed in shoes – no thongs NO EXCUSES ! ).  With some planning and preparation you should be able to complete your duty and watch your child’s event.
