Hills Little A’s at Region 6
Congratulations to everyone who competed over the weekend under very wet conditions! We still managed PBs, surprise qualifications and some great results – even a State record! You can see all the results click here, and we have a few photos linked to our Facebook page.
At this stage, we have 63 definite qualifiers to State made up of the top 2 places and we have about another 15 who have a really good chance based on their results, so fingers crossed for another record representation from Hills! It was lovely to see our Under 9s get to State for the first time – 4 girls and 4 boys. Also some surprise State athletes from the U17, U15 and U14 – they had the biggest grins – it’s great to see after so many years of competing at one level to finally “crack” through!
We had 4 relay teams qualify for Region. Junior Boys were unfortunately disqualified, Junior Girls finished a close 3rd, Senior Boys couldn’t find a replacement for Josh Cooper after his silver medal 200m run where he injured himself, and well done to the Senior Girls who finished 1st and progress to State.
All results are in for all but one Region, so now we wait – should know by Wednesday next week and I will let you know ASAP.
Next steps-
Can those athletes who are definite ensure that Championships Officers (Mel and Bruce – who did a fantastic job in trying conditions) are given their polo and jacket if they are a returning athlete?? These will be needed by Saturday this week at club so that we can update embroidery. If you are competing at State for a 2nd time, you will also be entitled to a spike bag – these are currently in production in our club colours, so will not be available until after State unfortunately – we will get them to you at presentation day. 3rd timers to State will receive an embroidered towel. 1st timers get the pack – jacket, polo & backpack! Once we have all items ready to go, we will have a presentation at club and arrange distribution of your gear.
