New to athletics

The athletic season commences in September through to April, registrations are in August however we register athletes right through the season.  Then we roll into Cross Country from April through July.  Hills competes in the North West Metropolitan Zone, at A H Whaling Reserve, Roxborough Park Road, Baulkham Hills on a Saturday morning from 8 a.m.   Cross Country starts promptly at 10 a.m. each Sunday at Crestwood Oval, Crestwood and competes over a 1km, 2 km, 3km and 4km course.

The age group an athlete competes in is determined by your child’s age at 1 October.   Our Saturday morning program is split across 2 weeks (Week A and Week B) the events are specified by LANSW.  Depending on the program and number of athletes we are typically done and dusted between 10:30 / 11 a.m.  Mid week coaching and Age Manager’s will help the athlete achieve their personal best.  Little Athletics encourages Family, Fun and Fitness with athletes striving for their best result, based on their ability.  Points are awarded for participation, equaling a personal best and achieving a new a personal best.  At the end of the season an athlete’s total points determine their achievement (Level 1 through Level 6), awards are presented at Presentation Day.

Time commitments for athletes and parents is Saturday mornings, and any additional coaching that takes place mid week.  Our club is run by volunteers and Saturday morning, and other competition days parents & helpers will be assigned duties to assist with the running of the carnival, in addition an Age Manager will require the assistance of up to 5 helpers on some events.   We encourage parents & helpers to get involved, remain at the ground during a carnival an provide assistance as needed.
