The 2008 Gala Day proved to be a great success with athletes, age managers and parents all playing their part. 330 medals were won across age groups Under 6 to Under 17 as Hills athletes competed against entrants from a wide range of clubs from various parts of Sydney.
As in 2007 the greatest competition came from closest to home as the Kings Langley Club performed well in the feature event with 3 of the 8 finalist in the 100m Gold Cup. In fact Kings Langley took out the first 3 places with Luke Osborne (11B) running 93m in 13.79.
The Hills struck back in the 800m Silver plate where Benjamin Thomson (11B) ran 2.54.75 (actual time 2.50.75) to win the 800m handicap event.
A very big thank you to
age managers and their parent assistants who provided a positive and professional environment for the children to compete in
all rostered parents who set up, packed up and officiated so very well
line marker artiste Dennis Coker for a huge effort in preparing the ground under very difficult circumstances
Peter Wigley and Stephen Ralph for their very early start and late finish to make sure that everything was in place and went to plan.

Gala Day - Thank you
Posted December 15, 2008
The club would like to thank all visiting and Hills atheletes that attended the Hills Gala Day. Thank you to the Age Managers and volunteers that assisted with scoring, marshalling, timekeeping, and all the other tasks that required attention on the day.
With special thanks to Dennis Coker who preprared the ground - given the adverse weather 24 hours prior the ground was one of the finest we had seen for some time. Special thanks to Paul Hewitt who's tireless effort and eye for detail created a successful event.
Over 300 medals were awarded on the day for results in each age group's events, so congratulations to each athlete that competed.
Thank you for participating in the 2008 Hills Gala Day and we look forward to seeing you in 2009.
Gala Day - 13 December 2008
Posted December 10, 2008
Reminder to all Hills Athletes that the Gala Day commences at 12.30pm sharp.
All age managers please be in attendance at 12.10 for briefing. A roster (click here) indicates the duties that must be performed if our day is to be a success. Parental support is vital. Set up is at 11am so that everything is in place by 12 noon.
We have over 100 entries from outside clubs competing for over 300 medals and the 3 magnifiicent gold cups and silver plates for our featuree handicap races.
All athletes to be in uniform (for children that do not have a uniform try to make it in club colours if possible) with your registration number clearly displayed.
Tiny Tots have a big sleep in with your events starting at 2.15pm with the Christmas Party to follow.
Good luck to all the competing athletes.
NSW State Relay Update
Posted November 25, 2008
Hills athletes took on the cold and wet weather and the hot competition at the 2008 State Relay Championships @ Campbelltown.
Over two long days our teams put in consistently good efforts that each can be proud of.
3 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals were overall highlights.
A very big thank you to Age Managers for providing direction to teams, to parents who played an important in manning our 'Change 3' duty and to Sandra Antal for her non stop efforts as Manager on the Saturday.
One disappointing sign was the incredibly large number of athletes needing age patches etc on the day. Although we were prepared for this the level of demand showed that we are not making sure we are organised before events. With Zone approaching I am asking Age Managers to only enter athletes that have numbers sewn on their uniform.
Back to the good news..... Hills results follow. If you want the full results go to www.laansw.com.au .
